Dubai, UAE – At this year’s annual Arab Health Exhibition & Congress (25-28 January) 2016, Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AXE: PHIA) is introducing a range of connected solutions across the health continuum, from healthy living and disease prevention, to diagnosis, treatment and care at home. Philips is leveraging its deep clinical expertise, data management, consumer insights as well as partnerships to help shape the future of healthcare in the Middle East. The aim is to provide more predictive and more personalized care to enable people to take charge of their own health, as well as first-time-right diagnoses and more effective treatments.
Arjen Radder, Philips CEO Middle East and Turkey said, “Today, digital technologies are empowering people to take more control of their health and lead healthier lives. Data and connected solutions help deliver the relevant information at the right time – enabling healthcare professionals to make first-time right decisions, achieve better outcomes at lower costs, and facilitate care models that put patients at the center of care.”

To further leverage its vision on connected innovations across the health continuum, Philips will shed the light on its Telehealth programs. It includes the Tele-ICU program which clinically transforms the ICU, using a proactive care model that provides a solution to growing physician and nurse shortages while dramatically improving critical care delivery 24/7. The Telehealth program aims at combining clinical expertise, leveraging advanced medical technology and reducing time from the ICU, the ward, to the home, improving financial outcomes by reducing the costs of acute and long term care by 32% according to Philips’ Banner Health Study (US).
Philips Personal Health Programs empower people to take greater control of their health. These app-based solutions help people establish and maintain healthier habits. They are designed with a unique combination of professional healthcare and consumer insights. The Philips health watch, for example, empowers individuals to live a healthier life by tracking heart rate and other metrics of their cardio condition, as well as activity, sleep and more.
The above mentioned solutions are enabled by the Philips HealthSuite Digital Platform, an open, secure, cloud-based platform that pulls together the vast amounts of data produced by digital solutions, including third party devices, traditional medical data sources like electronic medical records, diagnostic and treatment information, and medical images.
Moreover, part of Philips connected solutions being showcased is the IntelliSpace Portal 8.0. The advanced data sharing, analytics and visualization platform helps radiologists detect, diagnose and follow-up on cancer treatment. IntelliSpace Portal 8.0 helps address the changing demands in radiology that result from an increasing prevalence of cancer and its economic toll.
Also Lumify is now on display at Arab Health. Lumify is Philips’ smart device solution, which is set to make ultrasound technology more accessible to licensed healthcare providers or organizations. It comprises of two advanced ultrasound transducers, an app-based online portal and a subscription platform as part of a comprehensive portable, connected digital solution. Lumify leverages advanced digital health technology to provide critical information to the right people at the right time, transforming care delivery and connecting the various touch points along the health continuum.
In the area of Cardiac care, the Philips Minicare system, a handheld testing platform, is able to show blood test results on the reader display within minutes, potentially speeding up cardiovascular disease diagnosis. The system offers multiplexing capabilities, making it possible to improve diagnostic and provide multiple marker results, simultaneously, from the same sample. The results it presents are not only immediate, but it also enables doctors to identify high-risk patients earlier to reduce the time from diagnosis to treatment or quickly discharge patients not in need of emergency care.
Philips continues to focus on driving groundbreaking connected innovations across the health continuum. Digital technologies are the enabler of such transformations in healthcare systems and Philips is determined to drive that transformation.
