Evaluating the technical features and user experience of Philips EPIQ CVx

At the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), 42 experienced echocardiographers from 17 countries assessed the technical features and user experience of Philips EPIQ CVx ultrasound system. The study was conducted by Use-Lab GmbH, an independent usability engineering consultancy and interface design expert.

At a glance:

  • Ease of operation and workflow
  • Image quality: sharper and clearer
  • Increased lab throughput
  • Simplification and efficiency of interventional procedures

Methodology

Each participant in the study received a live demonstration of both the EPIQ CVx and its predecessor system. Subsequently, they were asked to indicate the extent to which they agreed with 33 pre-formulated statements comparing the two systems, using a Likert scale.

Key findings

These are a sampling of the findings discussed in the white paper:

  • 92% of clinicians1 who saw the EPIQ CVx believed it would be easy to operate.
  • 78% of clinicians2 who saw the EPIQ CVx perceived it as able to drive improved diagnostic confidence due to improved image quality, anatomical intelligence (Dynamic HeartModel* – Innovations to HeartModel) and advanced visualization tools (e.g. TrueVue and the OLED monitor).
  • 95% of clinicians2 who saw the EPIQ CVx believed it offered improved image quality: sharper and clearer images.
  • 85% of clinicians2 who saw the EPIQ CVx thought the customization of the UI would improve their on-cart scanning workflow.
