Things you'll need for your baby

Baby basics

• Infant's car seat - you won't be allowed home from hospital without one
• Moses basket - brilliant for carrying baby in the first few months
• Pram - there's a model to suit every little one
• Changing bag and a nappy bag - have these ready before you go into labour
• Nappies - check the size: too big and you'll end up with messier clean-up jobs
• Baby wipes
• Spare clothing - for you in hospital
• Baby blankets
• Baby grows, bibs, socks - get different sizes (babies grow at unpredictable rates)
• Baby monitor
• Baby bathtub - just while they are teeny
• Bouncy seat - endless fascination for them, five minutes' peace for you.

For feeding

• Manual or electric breast pump - expressing can take the pressure off you and allow others to help by feeding baby
• Containers and storage cups for expressed milk
• Bottles and teats
• Steriliser.
